Bandar Seri Begawan, Wednesday, 8 Muharram 1448 / 24 June 2026 – In conjunction with the Language Month 2026 Celebration (65th Anniversary of the Establishment of Dewan Bahasa), the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports through Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka organized a Recitation Ceremony of Surah Yasin and Tahlil at Kubah Makam Diraja, Bandar Seri Begawan, this evening.
The ceremony was dedicated to the late Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Muhammad Jamalul Alam, the late Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit binti Pengiran Bendahara Pengiran Anak Abdul Rahman, and the late Duli Yang Teramat Mulia Paduka Seri Pengiran Muda Haji 'Abdul 'Azim ibni Kebawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia Paduka Seri Baginda Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah.
Leading the delegation at the ceremony was Yang Berhormat Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Shamhary bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mustapha, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports.
The event commenced with a collective recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, followed by the recitation of Surah Yasin and Tahlil, led by Yang Mulia Awang Mohammad Zahid Zakwan @ Mohammad Thaib Hasbullah bin Mohd. Said, Mosque Affairs Officer of Kampung Bengkurong Mosque.
Also present were senior officials from the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports and its departments, association leaders, senior government and private sector officers, writers, and language and literary enthusiasts.
The highlight of the Language Month 2026 Celebration (65th Anniversary of Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka), themed “Bahasa Jiwa Bangsa", will take place on Tuesday, 21 Muharram 1448 / 7 July 2026 at the Dewan Musyawarah, International Convention Centre, Berakas.
