KHIDMAT BAKTI NEGARA DIVISION


Program Khidmat Bakti Negara known as PKBN is an aspiration of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam in producing excellent, responsible and disciplined youth.

This program is bases on the concept of voulteerism, youth development and identity formation.



 ​History of Establishment


A meeting between the Prime Minister's Office, the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports was held on 1st March 2007 at the Officers' Mess, Royal Brunei Police Force chaired by His Excellency the Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department. The council agreed that the proposed establishment of the Khidmat Bakti Negara Program (PKBN) would combine ideas from the Prime Minister's Office, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports with the intention that the program would be formed with a 'holistic' nature, which includes aspects of spiritual and physical aspects.


His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam has approved the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports as a leader in implementing the Khidmat Bakti Negara Program (PKBN) to be introduced in this country. Towards that end, a 'Taskforce' Committee for the Khidmat Bakti Negara Program (PKBN) has been established to discuss the preparation of the Policy Paper for the Khidmat Bakti Negara Program (PKBN).


His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam through a document has given permission for the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports to implement the Khidmat Bakti Negara Program Pilot Project as an evaluation before the actual Khidmat Bakti Negara Program is implemented.


The training of the First Pilot Project to the Fifth Recruitment of the Khidmat Bakti Negara Program (PKBN) was carried out at the Temporary Training Camp at the Sports Village, Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex, Berakas. This place can accommodate up to 300 people at a time. With the number of trainees increasing from year to year, the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports has developed a special building complex to carry out Khidmat Bakti Negara Program training. The building complex is called the Khidmat Bakti Negara Program Permanent Training Camp (PKBN) which is located in Kampong Batu Apoi, Temburong District which can accommodate 700 people at a time.​
