BERAKAS, Saturday, 14 Zulkaedah 1447 / 2 May 2026 – In an effort to promote a culture of reading and to build a knowledgeable society, the Language and Literature Bureau (DBP), through its Publishing and Marketing Division, has once again organized the DBP Mega Book Discount in conjunction with the celebration of World Book Day 2026. The launch ceremony was held this morning at Balai Sarmayuda, DBP.

The Guest of Honour who officiated the DBP Mega Book Discount was Yang Mulia Dr. Siti Norkhalbi binti Haji Wahsalfelah, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Culture), Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.

The DBP Mega Book Discount was first introduced in 2025 as a proactive initiative to expand public access to quality reading materials while fostering a reading culture among the community.

This sale represents DBP’s ongoing commitment to supporting the Government’s aspiration of nurturing a knowledgeable, information-literate, and reading-oriented society in facing the challenges of globalization and the knowledge-based economy. Reading not only opens avenues for exploring diverse fields of knowledge and new ideas, but also serves as a vital medium in strengthening the mastery of the Malay language as a national identity and the country’s official language.

The DBP Mega Book Discount offers price reductions of up to 80 percent on more than 800 titles, including books, magazines, and journals. Among the materials available are scholarly books and academic journals; children’s storybooks; reference works such as glossaries, word lists, dictionaries, monographs, and general guidelines; as well as literary works including short stories, novels, and poetry.

In addition, visitors have the opportunity to purchase in bulk. For public convenience, various payment methods are provided, including cash, card, and online transactions.

This year’s DBP Mega Book Discount runs for three days, from Saturday to Monday, 14–16 Zulkaedah 1447 / 2–4 May 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Balai Sarmayuda, DBP, Berakas.

Also present to show support were department heads and senior officers from the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, representatives from university libraries, schools, educators, and students.

It is hoped that this sale will continue to receive encouraging support and provide benefits to all levels of society, particularly in strengthening knowledge and cultivating a love for reading.
