Jalan Tutong, Thursday​, 23 April 2026 - The Faculty of Shariah and the Centre for Contemporary Fiqh Studies, Kolej Universiti Perguruan Ugama Seri Begawan (KUPU SB), with the support of the Department of Community Development, organised the International Conference on Fiqh Al-Usrah 2025/2026 (MUAFIQ 25/26). The two day conference was held on 22 and 23 April 2026 at Dewan Tarbiah, Kolej Universiti Perguruan Ugama Seri Begawan. 

 

The organisation of the two-day conference marked the fourth time it was held, and the theme for the year 2025/2026 is “A Happy Family Ensures a Legacy of Quality and Faithful Individuals,” which aims to strengthen the family institution in line with the Plan Of Action On The Family Institution 2025–2029. The conference also represents a continuation of initiatives to enhance the celebration of National Family Day so that the spirit of family togetherness continues to be nurtured and celebrated at all times. 

 

Among the key objectives of the International Conference on Fiqh Al-Usrah are to strengthen the development of blessed families based on the concept of sakinah, mawaddah wa rahmah; to reinforce education in Aqidah, Shariah and Akhlak in addressing family-related issues; to identify key challenges in family life and formulate both short and long-term solutions towards a harmonious and prosperous society; to empower the family institution through parenting skills; and to provide a platform for scholarly discourse and contemporary research.

 

Present as the Guest of Honour at the closing ceremony was Yang Mulia Hajah Nor Ashikin binti Haji Johari, Permanent Secretary (Community), Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports

 

As part of the conference programme, an Islamic Family Forum titled “Gen Z: FaithInspired, Exemplary Character, Blessed Families” was held. The forum featured three panellists, namely Yang Mulia Awang Hilman bin Haji Salim, Assistant Lecturer, Centre for Contemporary Fiqh Studies, KUPU SB; Yang Mulia Awang Abdul Muid bin Hariel, Religious Officer, Family Advisory Services Division, Department of Syariah Affairs, Ministry of Religious Affairs; and Yang Mulia Dayang Nuramalizaan binti Haji Jamal, Social Work Officer, Department of Community Development, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, who was invited as a representative of JAPEM to share insights during the forum. 

 

The two-day conference was attended by approximately 300 participants comprising government officers and staff, university students, pre-university students, nongovernmental organisations, private sector representatives, and members of the public. 

 

The event also featured the presentation of the Resolution of the International Conference on Fiqh Al-Usrah 2025/2026 (MUAFIQ 25/26) by Associate Professor Dr Abdul Nasir bin Haji Abdul Rani, Ra’es of KUPU SB, to the Guest of Honour. The Resolution is intended to serve as a reference in strengthening policies, programmes and strategic actions related to family development and societal well-being in Brunei Darussalam, as well as to guide the planning and implementation of initiatives to reinforce the family institution in line with the Plan Of Action On The Family Institution 2025–2029.​
