Berakas, Wednesday, 15 April 2026 -  The Department of Community Development (JAPEM), Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS), in collaboration with Peak Performance Sdn Bhd, hosted a festive Hari Raya gathering Pusat Bahagia trainees from all four districts to celebrate Hari Raya 1447/2026.The event was held at the Peak Hall, Peak Club, Brunei International Airport Highway.

 

In attendance as Guest of Honour was Yang Mulia Dayang Hajah Nor Ashikin binti Haji Johari, Permanent Secretary (Community), Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.


The event commenced with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah dan Doa Selamat, led by Yang Mulia Ustaz Haji Hannafi bin Haji Sunny, Head Religious Teacher at Pusat Bahagia Eric Goh, Kuala Belait.


The celebration was enlivened by several Hari Raya-themed singing and dance performances. These were showcased by winners of the OKU Got Talent (OGT) competition, trainees from various Pusat Bahagia centers, members of the Brunei Darussalam National Association of the Blind (BDNAB), as well as officers and staff of Pusat Bahagia from all four districts.


This reception was held to celebrate the trainees of Pusat Bahagia in a vibrant and joyous atmosphere, providing them with the opportunity to experience the festivities of Hari Raya Aidilfitri. The event also aimed to strengthen the bonds of kinship among trainees from all four districts, while fostering closer relationships between them and the ministry's officials and staff, Peak BN, and strategic partners of MCYS. Furthermore, the gathering was intended to serve as a meaningful platform to showcase talents, boost self-confidence, and enhance social interaction skills among the trainees. Through active engagement in a community setting, the event promoted a sense of belonging for Persons with Disabilities (PWD), making sure they feel valued and included.


Furthermore, the event serves to increase public awareness regarding the needs and challenges faced by the PWD community. It aims to instill values of love, empathy, and care, thereby creating a sense of joy and togetherness within the community.


Also, in attendance were Yang Mulia Dr. Haji Muhammad Hadi bin Muhammad Melayong, Acting Deputy Permanent Secretary (Culture), Ministry of Cuture, Youth and Sports; Heads of Departments under the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports; members of associations under the National Council on the Welfare of Persons with  Disabilities (MKOKU); strategic partners; and Yang Mulia Dayang Fauziah binti Haji Mohd Salleh, Acting Director of Community Development, as the Chairperson of the Event.​
