BERAKAS, Monday, 19 Ramadan 1447/9 March 2026 – The Nuzul Al-Quran Celebration Ceremony for the Year 1447 Hijrah corresponding to 2026 was held at Dewan Digadong, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.
The ceremony was conducted by the Language and Literature Department, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports. Present as the Guest of Honour for the ceremony was Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi Mohamad, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports. The ceremony began with a welcoming speech by Yang Mulia Dayang Hajah Haireni binti Haji Awang Damit, Acting Deputy Director, Language and Literature Department as Deputy Chairman of the ceremony. The ceremony continued with the recitation of Al-Quran, namely Surah al-Qadr by Yang Mulia Awang Haji Nordin bin Haji Durahman, Religious Teacher, Welfare Home Complex, Community Development Department (JAPEM). The reciter of the ibrah for the surah was Yang Mulia Awang Haji Nuurmatiin bin Haji Abu Bakar, Acting Community Development Officer and Acting Head of Religious Teachers, Brunei and Muara Happiness Centre, JAPEM. Next, the ceremony was also enlivened with talked entitled “Besides the Quran" delivered by Yang Mulia Awang Abdul Rahman bin Haji Ajak, Lecturer at the Seri Begawan Religious Teachers University College (KUPU SB). The ceremony ended with the recitation of the Prayer for the Protection of the Sultan and Brunei Darussalam by Yang Mulia Awang Md. Nabil bin Haji Ruslan, Religious Development Assistant, Youth Development Centre. Also present at the ceremony were the Permanent Secretaries, Deputy Permanent Secretaries, Heads of Divisions and Departments as well as officers and staff of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports. The ceremony is one of the annual religious activities of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports and its departments which aims to commemorate and celebrate the historic event, namely Nuzul Al-Quran in conjunction with the revelation of the first verse to Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wa sallam. By commemorating and appreciating the event, hopefully we will always remember and love the Al-Quran.
