Negara Brunei Darussalam, Tuesday, 06 Ramadan 1447 /​​ 24 February 2026- “In the effort to achieve Wawasan Negara, several important aspects from the perspective of Islam must be upheld. Firstly, strengthening the relationship with Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala by observing all His commands, embracing true faith, increasing righteous deeds, and maintaining steadfast devotion to Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala. Secondly, fostering and reinforcing unity. Every plan will be easier and more effective when carried out collectively, complementing one another, and uniting hearts and minds in realizing Wawasan Negara. These are among the factors that enable an Islamic nation to remain progressive and distinguished. When religion is prioritized in every aspect of life and unity becomes the strength, the effort to build a prosperous and harmonious nation can be realized."


This message formed part of the Tazkirah delivered by Yang Mulia Pengiran Ahmad Faris Ramadhani bin Pengiran Haji Sellahuddin, Acting Secretary of the Majlis Ugama Islam Brunei, during the Munajat Khas organized by the Ministry of Religious Affairs for the 220th time, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, in conjunction with the 42nd National Day celebration of Brunei Darussalam, 2026. The ceremony was held physically earlier this morning, with the main focus at Masjid Omar 'Ali Saifuddien, Bandar Seri Begawan.


Present were Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Awang Haji Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Awang Haji Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs; Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Retired) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister in the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Defence; Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Haji Mohammad Isham bin Haji Jaafar, Minister of Health; Yang Berhormat Datin Seri Setia Dr. Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Md Salleh, Minister of Education; and Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi Mohamad, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports.


The Munajat Khas was also held simultaneously at major mosques in all four districts.


In Belait District, at Masjid Mohammad Jamalul Alam, Kuala Belait, attended by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ahmaddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman, Minister of Home Affairs, and Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Muhammad Juanda bin Haji Abdul Rashid, Minister of Development.


In Tutong District, at Masjid Hassanal Bolkiah, Pekan Tutong, attended by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Haji Mohd. Amin Liew bin Abdullah, Minister in the Prime Minister's Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II, and Yang Berhormat Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Shamhary bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mustapha, Minister of Transport and Infocommunications.


In Temburong District, at Masjid Utama Mohammad Salleh, Pekan Bangar, attended by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Erywan bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Haji Mohd. Yusof, Second Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Haji Abdul Manaf bin Haji Metussin, Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism.


Also present were Yang Mulia Deputy Ministers; Yang Mulia Members of the Majlis Ugama Islam Brunei; Yang Mulia Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces; Yang Mulia Commissioner of Police, Royal Brunei Police Force; Yang Mulia Permanent Secretaries and Deputy Permanent Secretaries; department heads, senior officers, ministry officials; members of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces; Takmir Committee members; and congregants attending physically and virtually. Teachers and students from Arabic schools, religious schools, primary schools, and private institutions nationwide also joined virtually.


The ceremony began with the recitation of Sayyidul Istighfar and Surah Al-Fatihah, led by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi Mohamad, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports. This was followed by the collective recitation of Surah Al-Mulk, led by Yang Mulia Awang Zulkifli bin Haji Murat, Superintendent of Masjid Omar 'Ali Saifuddien, Mosque Affairs Department, Ministry of Religious Affairs.


The Doa Munajat Khas was read by Yang Mulia Dato Seri Setia Dr. Haji Japar bin Haji Mat Dain @ Maidin, Deputy State Mufti, Prime Minister's Office. The ceremony continued with Tadabbur Al-Qur'an recitations by Yang Mulia Awang Ahmad Zulwagar bin Haji Suhaili, National Champion Qari of the Adult Category, Musabaqah Al-Quran 1446H / 2025M; Yang Mulia Haji Awang Mohamad Zul-Hafiz bin Awang Tengah, National Champion Qari of the Adult Category, Musabaqah Al-Quran 1442H / 2021M and 1443H / 2022M; and Yang Mulia Awang Haji Hazwan bin Haji Salim, National Champion Qari of the Youth Category, Musabaqah Tilawah Al-Quran 1443H / 2022M.


The Tazkirah concluded with the recitation of Doa Peliharakan Sultan dan Negara Brunei Darussalam by Yang Dimuliakan Begawan Pehin Khatib Dato Paduka Haji Emran bin Haji Kunchang, Mosque Affairs Officer, Masjid Omar 'Ali Saifuddien, Mosque Affairs Department, Ministry of Religious Affairs.


The Munajat Khas organized by the Ministry of Religious Affairs in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, in conjunction with the 42nd National Day celebration of Brunei Darussalam, aims to instill awareness and appreciation that the nation's prosperity, peace, and well-being are blessings that must be cherished and safeguarded collectively.


Through the prayers offered, the people and residents of Brunei Darussalam are called upon to strengthen their faith and piety towards Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala, while seeking His blessings, protection, and mercy so that the nation remains peaceful, stable, and prosperous under the wise leadership of Kebawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia Paduka Seri Baginda Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.


This event also reflects the spirit of unity and cooperation among government agencies and all levels of society in appreciating the meaning of independence and sovereignty, in line with the theme of the 42nd National Day celebration of Brunei Darussalam: “Bersatu Mencapai Cita Negara."
