Bandar Seri Begawan, Selasa, 22 Syaaban 1447/ 10 January 2026 – The Government of His Majesty Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, through the Department of Community Development (JAPEM) under the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, has disbursed financial assistance amounting to BND29,975.00 (Brunei Dollars: Twenty-Nine Thousand Nine Hundred Seventy-Five) to nineteen (19) heads of households. The ceremony was held at Dewan Citra Budaya, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.

From the nineteen (19) recipients, thirteen (13) households were affected by floods, two (2) by landslides, two (2) by fire, one (1) by strong winds, and one (1) by a house deemed unsafe for habitation. 

In addition, three (3) families impacted by fire, floods, and landslides respectively were provided with essential supplies and food rations. All victims and residents involved in these disasters are reported to be safe and did not sustain any injuries.

The financial assistance is intended to ease the hardships faced by disaster victims and ensure the welfare of their families. This initiative demonstrates the Government’s concern and compassion towards citizens and residents affected by calamities.

The aid was presented by Yang Mulia Dayang Hajah Nor Ashikin binti Haji Johari, Permanent Secretary (Community), Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, and Acting Director of JAPEM, who chaired the ceremony.​
