BERAKAS, Monday, 26 January 2026 – The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) organized a Scoping Exercise Workshop to draft the Second Action Plan of the National Youth Policy and Strategy 2020–2035 (2026–2030). This initiative represents a concerted effort to evaluate the achievements of the current NYPS implementation and to chart a new direction for national youth development over the next five years.
The workshop brought together other ministries, relevant government agencies, the private sector, as well as youth movements and associations, reflecting a Whole-of-Nation approach to youth development. This cross-sectoral engagement aims to ensure that the action plan formulated is inclusive, realistic, and aligned with the current needs of young people.
Discussions during the workshop focused on the formulation of strategies, programs and activities, key performance indicators (KPIs), and lead implementers under the four core strategies of the NYPS: Whole-of-Nation Collaboration, Culture of Unity, Education, Employability and Decent Work, and Youth Empowerment. The deliberations also took into account preliminary findings from the Youth Development Index (YDI), providing a data-driven foundation for planning.
The outcomes of this workshop are expected to serve as key inputs in preparing the Second NYPS Action Plan, which will be more impactful, sustainable, and aligned with the aspirations of Brunei Vision 2035. Ultimately, it will strengthen the role of youth as strategic partners in national development.
