BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Sunday, 13 Sya’ban 1447 / 1 February 2026 – The Language and Literature Bureau, through its Research, Documentation and Accreditation Division, organized a Photography Competition in conjunction with the UBD Drone Show Gala Night under the theme “Drone and Fireworks Display at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium and Fireworks Display at Jerudong Park Garden.”

The competition served as a creative platform providing opportunities for individuals to express perspectives and emotions through visual and written mediums, thereby broadening artistic appreciation and nurturing new talents with the potential to be accredited and showcased at higher levels. The Prize Presentation Ceremony for the winners was held this morning at the Dewan Jawatan Dalam, Brunei History Centre.

The Guest of Honour at the ceremony, who presented prizes, souvenirs, and certificates of accreditation to winners, judges, and corporate partners (sponsors), was Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi Mohamad, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports.

The Photography Competition aimed, among other objectives, to support the vision and mission of the Language and Literature Bureau; to encourage the public to cultivate interest in photography and writing; to strengthen community potential and skills in these fields; and to highlight and accredit outstanding works of photography and writing in the country.

The winners of Category A (General) were Awang Mohammad Suffri bin Awang Osman in first place, Dayang Nurin Nabilah binti Ismail in second place, and Awang Ahmad Faisaldin bin Haji Awang Tuah in third place. 

In Category B (Portrait Poetry), Awang Nurhazmie bin Haji Razali secured first place, Dayang Siti Nur Azra Basyirah binti Alias took second place, and Dayang Siti Radiah binti Haji Ahim won third place.

The ceremony also featured welcoming remarks by Yang Mulia Dayang Hajah Haireni binti Haji Awang Damit, Acting Deputy Director of the Language and Literature Bureau, who served as Deputy Chairperson and Secretary of the event. This was followed by the presentation of prizes, souvenirs, and certificates of accreditation to winners, judges, and corporate partners.

The Photography Competition Exhibition in conjunction with the UBD Drone Show Gala Night will be held at the Art Gallery, Brunei Energy Hub Dermaga Diraja, from Monday, 14 Sya’ban 1447 / 2 February 2026 until Sunday, 20 Sya’ban 1447 / 8 February 2026.
