BERAKAS, Thursday, 3 Syaaban 1447 / 22 January 2026 – The ceremony commemorating Israk and Mikraj 1447 Hijrah, corresponding to 2026, was held at Dewan Digadong, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.

The Guest of Honour at the ceremony was Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi Mohamad, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports.

In seeking blessings for the ceremony, the event commenced with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, led by Yang Mulia Awang Muhammad Nabil bin Haji Roslan, Religious Development Assistant at the Youth Development Centre, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.

The ceremony was further enriched by a Special Lecture entitled “Prayer as the Core of an Excellent Human Capital", delivered by Yang Mulia Ustaz Awang Mohammad Nasyith bin Superi, Religious Officer at the Islamic Da'wah Centre, Ministry of Religious Affairs.

The ceremony concluded with a Doa Khas bagi Kesihatan dan Kesejahteraan Kebawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia Paduka Seri Baginda Sultan dan Yang Di-Pertuan Negara Brunei Darussalam, followed by Doa Peliharakan Sultan dan Negara Brunei Darussalam.

Also present at the ceremony were the Acting Permanent Secretary, Deputy Permanent Secretaries, Directors and Heads of Departments, as well as officers and staff of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.

This ceremony is one of the annual religious activities organized by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports and its departments. It aims to commemorate and enliven the occasion of Israk and Mikraj of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). The ceremony serves as a reminder of the divine commandment establishing the five daily prayers for Muslims, and seeks to inspire greater devotion and sincerity in performing them​.
