Berakas, Thursday, 27 Jamadilakhir 1447 / 18 December 2025 — The First Meeting of the Executive Committee for the Celebration of the 42nd National Day of Brunei Darussalam, 2026, was convened today at the Digadong Hall, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.
The meeting was jointly chaired by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi Mohamad, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports; Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Awang Haji Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Awang Haji Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs; and Yang Berhormat Datin Seri Setia Dr. Dayang Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Md. Salleh, Minister of Education, in their capacity as Co-Chairs.
The agenda of the First Meeting of the Executive Committee for the 42nd National Day Celebration focused on the post-mortem review of the 41st National Day Celebration in 2025, the theme and elaboration of the theme for the 42nd National Day Celebration in 2026, proposals for the format of the main celebration, and related events such as the dates for the Hoisting and Lowering of the National Flag, Majlis Pengagihan Bendera Kecil Meja dan Program Semarak Pengibaran Bendera, Majlis Khatam Al-Quran 42 kali, side events, and the finalization of the logo competition.
To ensure the smooth execution of the 42nd National Day Celebration in 2026, which will coincide with the blessed month of Ramadan, an Executive Committee and Working Committee have been established to organize and coordinate all aspects of the event. These committees are tasked with ensuring that the celebration is conducted in line with the principles of moderation, the appreciation of piety, and the sanctity of Ramadan, while at the same time preserving the spirit of nationalism and the festive atmosphere as a means of strengthening unity among the people and expressing love for the nation.
Also present at the meeting were Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd. Yussof, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Defence, serving as Joint Advisor; Yang Amat Mulia Acting Commissioner of the Royal Brunei Police Force; the Deputy Minister (Public Service Governance) at the Prime Minister's Office; the Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs; the Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces; Permanent Secretaries and Deputy Permanent Secretaries; as well as members of the Executive Committee for the 42nd National Day Celebration of Brunei Darussalam, 2026.
