BIMP-EAGA Youth Bus 2025 Concludes Successfully, Strengthening Regional Youth Cooperation

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Saturday, 15 Jamadialakhir 1447 / 6 December 2025 – The inaugural BIMP-EAGA Youth Bus, organized by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports of Brunei Darussalam together with co-organizers the Sabah Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Sarawak Ministry of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development, was held over sixteen (16) days across Sabah, Sarawak, and Brunei Darussalam.


The BIMP-EAGA Youth Bus 2025 in Brunei Darussalam was coordinated by SSEAYP International Brunei Darussalam (BERSATU) as Strategic Partner, together with the Young Professional Network (YPN) for the Brunei Youth Forum. The program gathered 20 youth participants aged between 18 and 35 from Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia (Sabah and Sarawak), and the Philippines. The participants came from diverse backgrounds and were actively engaged in youth affairs, encompassing education, leadership, entrepreneurship, community and youth development, as well as volunteerism.


This project is the first initiative under the Socio-Cultural and Education Cluster platform, specifically the Youth and Sports Development Working Group. This achievement reflects the shared commitment to empower youth and to strengthen relations among BIMP-EAGA countries.


The theme of the BIMP-EAGA Youth Bus emphasizes the hope that the initiative will foster cross-cultural understanding, friendship, and solidarity among sub-regional youth; provide meaningful exposure to socio-cultural diversity, economic potential, and opportunities for collaboration; and empower youth as future leaders through activities that encourage leadership, innovation, and community development.


For the Brunei Darussalam segment, participants together with more than 200 Bruneian youth took part in the Brunei Youth Forum. The keynote address was delivered by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Abdul Manaf bin Haji Metussin, Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism, under the theme “BIMP-EAGA: Unlocking a Future of Innovation and Cross-Border Collaboration for the Next Generation of Entrepreneurs.” The forum continued with interactive dialogue sessions with Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi Mohamad, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports; Yang Mulia Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Khairuddin bin Abdul Hamid, Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy (Economy); and Yang Berhormat Dayang Queenie Chong Chin Yee, Member of the Legislative Council, focusing on the topic “Youth as the Catalyst of Change.”


In addition, several thematic dialogue sessions were held to explore how BIMP-EAGA youth could further strengthen community relations through entrepreneurship, with particular emphasis on digital innovation, eco-tourism, agriculture, creative industries, and sustainable development.


At the Closing Ceremony of the BIMP-EAGA Youth Bus 2025, participants presented their resolutions and handed them over to the Guest of Honour, Yang Mulia Awang Mohammad Harris bin Brigadier General (Rtd.) Dato Paduka Haji Ibrahim, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Trade and Industry), Ministry of Finance and Economy, who serves as Senior Officer for the BIMP-EAGA National Secretariat of Brunei Darussalam.​
