BERAKAS, Monday, 3 November – Brunei Darussalam will be sending a contingent to participate in the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games 2025, officially scheduled to take place from 7 to 21 November 2025 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.


The Brunei Darussalam contingent comprises 13 members, including seven athletes and six officials. Among the officials are the Chef de Mission, Head of Secretariat, Secretariat Officer, and coaches.


In conjunction with this, the National Flag Handover Ceremony for the Brunei Darussalam contingent to the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games 2025 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, was held today at the Simpur Room, Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium, Berakas.


Present to officiate the ceremony was the Permanent Secretary (Culture) at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS), Pengiran Haji Mohd. Hasnan bin Pengiran Haji Ali Hassan.


The event commenced with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Religious Development Assistant from the Youth Development Centre, Awang Muhammad Nabil bin Haji Roslan, who also delivered the Doa Selamat.


The ceremony continued with the Vice President of the Brunei Darussalam National Olympic Council (BDNOC), Awang Haji Mohd. Zamri bin Dato Paduka Haji Hamdani, delivering the royal address of His Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Bendahara Seri Maharaja Permaisuara Pengiran Muda Haji Sufri Bolkiah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, President of BDNOC.


The national flag was then officially handed over by the Permanent Secretary (Culture) to the Acting Director of Youth and Sports, Awang Haji Mohamad Rosfazilah bin Haji Yusly, who serves as the Chef de Mission of the Brunei Darussalam contingent to the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games 2025 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.


This year, Brunei Darussalam will compete in three sporting events: Fencing, Karate, and Weightlifting. This marks the country's fifth participation in the Islamic Solidarity Games, with the most recent being in 2022 at the 5th edition held in Konya, Republic of Türkiye.


Also in attendance were the Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Brunei Darussalam, Hani Yahya Maghrabi; members of the National Athlete Selection and Evaluation High Committee; representatives from national sports associations; senior officials from MCYS; and parents and guardians of the athletes.
