LUMUT, Saturday, 3rd Jamadilawal 1447 / 25th October 2025 – The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) organized the National Cleanliness Campaign 2025 under the Steering Committee on Cleanliness Issues (JIIK), held at the Lumut Lighthouse area, Kampong Sungai Kayu Ara, Mukim Liang, Belait District.

The campaign was attended by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi Mohamad, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, as the Guest of Honour. Also present were Permanent Secretaries, the Deputy Permanent Secretary, officers and staff of MCYS, as well as members of associations and youth volunteers.

The event commenced with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat led by Yang Mulia Awang Muhammad Nabil bin Haji Roslan, Religious Development Assistant from the Youth Development Centre. This was followed by a safety briefing and an overview of the cleanliness campaign. Participants then gathered for a group photo session before beginning the clean-up activities around the Lumut Lighthouse area.

This campaign is one of MCYS's integrated efforts to support JIIK's initiatives, aimed at raising public awareness on the importance of cleanliness and environmental preservation, particularly in coastal areas such as Lumut Lighthouse, Kampong Sungai Kayu Ara. It also serves as a platform to strengthen camaraderie and foster unity among ministry officials and staff across its departments. Indirectly, this initiative contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and supports climate change mitigation efforts.
