Bandar Seri Begawan, Saturday, 19 Zulkaedah 1446 / 17 May 2025 – The National Youth Day Awards serve as a prestigious national recognition and appreciation of the youth movement in Brunei Darussalam, in line with the aspirations of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzadin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, who has expressed his vision of valuing youth as a vital national asset that deserves attention and appreciation.


In this regard, the Secretariat of the 20th National Youth Day Awards 2025 organized the National Youth Day Awards 2025 Briefing Session in conjunction with the National Youth Day Celebration 2025, held at Dewan Digadong, Ministry of Culture, Youth, and Sports today.


The briefing session on the National Youth Day Awards 2025 was chaired by Yang Mulia Dayang Hajah Nor Ashikin binti Haji Johari, Permanent Secretary (Community) and Acting Permanent Secretary (Youth), Ministry of Culture, Youth, and Sports. Meanwhile, an informative presentation on the awards was delivered by Yang Mulia Dayang Zainab binti Haji Morshidi, Director of Youth and Sports Development, followed by an interactive question-and-answer session. The event proceeded with the official handover of the National Youth Day Awards 2025 poster to representatives from youth associations, public relations officers, and members of the media in attendance.


Award Categories

For the year 2025, the awards have been classified into four categories:

1)  Outstanding Youth Award (BC) 

This award recognizes an individual youth who has demonstrated excellence in their respective fields, contributing significantly to the nation thro​ugh commendable achievements. Priority is given to international-level accomplishments, with regional and national achievements considered an additional advantage. The award covers various fields, including religion, sports, education, entrepreneurship, science, technology, culture, and the arts.


​2)  Youth Service Award (BB) 

This category honors a youth who has been actively involved in voluntary and continuous service to the community, demonstrating dedication to religion, sports, education, entrepreneurship, science, technology, culture, and the arts.


3)  Young Youth Leader Award ​​​(PMB)

This award acknowledges a young leader who has successfully advanced their organization through sustained efforts, demonstrating excellence in religion, community service, education, entrepreneurship, environmental initiatives, technology, and sports. The recognition serves to inspire future youth leaders to be visionary, competent, and highly ethical.


4)  Outstanding Youth Project Award (PCUB) 

This category comprises three distinct subcategories:

a) Outstanding Youth Project in Socioeconomic Development (PCUBSE) Recognizing projects that contribute to youth development, economic diversification, and volunteerism.

b) Outstanding Youth Project in Healthy Lifestyle Promotion (PCUBGHS) Honoring initiatives that promote health and recreational sports, focusing on community well-being and healthcare awareness.

c) Outstanding Youth Project in Arts and Culture (PUCBSKI) Celebrating projects that emphasize preserving cultural identity and ideology, while enhancing artistic and cultural growth.


Application Requirements for the National Youth Day Awards 2025


The following criteria must be met for all award categories:

a) Eligibility:

  • Open to citizens of His Majesty Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam or permanent residents (holders of a Brunei Darussalam passport).

  • Both male and female applicants are eligible, whether individual youth or members of organizations officially recognized by the Government of His Majesty Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.

b) Age Requirements:

  • Applicants for the PCUB, BC, and BB categories must be aged between 15 and 35 years (not exceeding 35 years as of 1 August 2024).

  • Applicants for the PMB category must be aged between 15 and 45 years (not exceeding 45 years as of 1 August 2024).

d)  Each applicant is permitted to apply for only one (1) award category (BC, BB, or PMB).

e) Applicants must not have received the National Youth Day Award in the same category within the last three (3) years.

f)   The supporting and verification form must be completed by relevant parties or individuals who can verify the applicant's contributions or achievements.

g)  Applicants must submit a performance evaluation for the last three (3) years, if applicable.

h)   A completed registration form, along with the required documents and video, must be submitted.

Incomplete applications or those that do not meet the participation requirements will not be considered.

The deadline for submissions is Thursday, 29 May 2025, at 3:00 PM.
