Bandar Seri Begawan, Monday, 15 Rabiulakhir 1445 / 30 October 2023 – Brunei History Centre (PSB) in collaboration with Radio Television Brunei (RTB) organized the 3rd Pehin Jawatan Dalam History Quiz Competition Finals with the theme “Sejarah Pengukuh Jati Diri Bangsa" held at Dewan Digadong, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.


A total of eight (8) students from four (4) secondary schools participated in this final stage, namely Sekolah Menengah Sufri Bolkiah, Tutong; Sekolah Ma'had Islam Brunei; Sekolah Menengah Sayyidina Umar Al-Khattab; and Sekolah Menengah Pengiran Jaya Negara Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar, Kuala Belait. Each school was represented by two students.


Present as a Guest of Honor was Yang Mulia Awang Haji Zakaria bin Haji Serudin, Permanent Secretary (Youth), Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports. Also in attendance was Yang Mulia Dr Haji Muhammad Hadi bin Muhammad Melayong, Principal of Brunei History Centre, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.


Sekolah Menengah Sufri Bolkiah, Tutong came in 1st place by obtaining 69 marks and received a cash prize of $1,000.00 with a trophy and participation certificate.

 

Sekolah Menengah Sayyidina Umar Al-Khattab​ won 2nd place by obtaining 65 marks and received a cash prize of $800.00 with a trophy and participation certificate.

 

Sekolah Ma'had Islam Brunei won 3rd place by obtaining 56 marks received a cash prize of $600.00 with a trophy and participation certificate.

 

Sekolah Menengah Pengiran Jaya Negara Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar, Kuala Belait placed​​ 4th by obtaining 45 marks received a cash prize of $400.00 with a trophy and participation certificate.


The objective of the competition is to encourage students to remember history; develop the talents and interests of students in the fields of history, culture, and heritage; raise awareness among the younger generation about the importance of studying history and its connection to strengthening identity and national development; foster competition among secondary school students; and instill a sense of love for the King, Religion, Nation, and Country.
