Flag Handling Ceremony and Negara Brunei Darussalam Contingent Head to the 4th ASIAN Para Games 2022, Hangzhou, China

Berakas, Thursday, 04 Rabiulakhir 1445 / 19 October 2023M - Brunei Darussalam will send a sport contingent to participate in the 4th Asian Para Games 2022, Hangzhou, China which will be officially held from 22 to 28 October 2023.
The Brunei Darussalam contingent consisting of 4 people, includes one (1) Trustee, (1) a Coach and (1) an athlete namely Awang Shari bin Haji Juma'at, who will participate in the Para Athletics Games (in Shotput F55, Discus Throw F54/55/56, Javelin F55) and headed by one (1) Chef de Mission.
Present to complete the handover of the national flag at the Brunei International Airport was the Honorable Dato Seri Setia Nazmi Mohamad, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports to Yang Mulia Awang Haji Ali Yusri bin Abdul Ghafor, Chef de Mission.
Also present at Brunei International Airport was His Excellency Xiao Jianguo, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Brunei Darussalam, Yang Mulia Pengiran Mohammad Amirrizal bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud, Permanent Secretary (Sports) of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, Yang Mulia Dayang Hajah Nor Ashikin binti Haji Johari, Permanent Secretary (Community), Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports and Yang Mulia Dr. Siti Norkhalbi binti Haji Wahsalfelah, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Culture) of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports and senior officials from the Department of Youth and Sports.
This year, the organizers of the Asian Para Games have implemented a new selection system by stipulating that the Para Athletics event must meet the criteria set based on the Minimum Qualifying Standard (MQS) for each participating event such as actively participating in the invitational tournament organized by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC). As a result of the qualifying test, only one out of four (4) athletes from this country is eligible to be supported to participate in the tournament.
At this 4th Asian Para Games, marks Brunei Darussalam's 4th participation in the tournament.
