Permanent Secretary (Culture)
Yang Mulia Pengiran Haji Mohd Hasnan bin Pengiran Haji Ali Hassan
Pengiran Haji Mohd Hasnan bin Pengiran Haji Ali Hassan was appointed as Permanent Secretary (Strategy and Policy Management) at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports on 19 November 2019 with a portfolio that includes community affairs, culture and international affairs. Earlier before that, he was the Permanent Secretary (Industry) at the Ministry of Energy (Energy and Manpower) and Industry since 31 July 2018. Before he was appointed as Permanent Secretary, Pengiran Haji Mohd Hasnan held the position of Director of Human Resource Development and Corporate Affairs at Ministry of Finance and also Acting Controller of Royal Customs and Excise in the Department of Customs and Excise, Ministry of Finance.
On 18 July 2022, Pengiran Haji Mohd Hasnan's main portfolio at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports was changed to include being responsible for coordinating and managing cultural affairs in addition to strategic and policy affairs at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports including Ministry productivity affairs, public relations, internal audit, human resource development (HRD) and Info-Technology. He is also the CIO (Chief Information Officer) for the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.
In addition to that, effective September 4, 2024, Pengiran Haji Mohd Hasnan has started temporarily carrying out the duties and responsibilities of the Permanent Secretary (Sports), which is responsible for coordinating and managing sports affairs and at the same time looking into the Ministry's administrative affairs including affairs estate management as well as safety, health, security and environment (HSSE) affairs and overseeing the Youth and Sports Development Division, MCYS and the Youth and Sports Department.
While under the cultural sector, he looking into several divisions and departments under the MCYS including the Culture and Arts Division, Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka, the Department of Museums, the Brunei History Center and the National Archives which all work together to preserve and protect culture, tradition and heritage country.
Pengiran Haji Mohd Hasnan holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) degree in International Tourism and Hotel Management from South Bank University, London, United Kingdom. In 2006, he was awarded a Master of Human Resource Management degree from Griffith University, Australia. Pengiran Haji Mohd Hasnan's interests include reading, hiking, playing football, and futsal .
