Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 19 June 2025 - Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Nazmi bin Haji Awang Mohamad, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports attended the 20th Asia/Oceania Intergovernmental Ministerial Meeting on Anti-Doping in Sport, held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, from 17 to 18 June 2025.


Organised under the auspices of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and hosted by the Government of the United Arab Emirates, the annual meeting brought together ministers and senior officials from across Asia and Oceania to discuss strategies, commitments and regional cooperation in the ongoing fight against doping in sport.


In his intervention, Yang Berhormat Dato reaffirmed Brunei Darussalam’s unwavering commitment to upholding integrity in sport and ensuring a doping-free environment for athletes. He underscored the importance of national compliance with international anti-doping standards, and welcomed deeper regional collaboration through knowledge exchange, technical support and capacity-building among National Anti-Doping Organisations (NADOs). He further highlighted Brunei Darussalam’s progress in strengthening anti-doping governance, including ongoing review of regulatory frameworks in line with the World Anti-Doping Code, and the role of education in fostering values of fairness and ethics among youth and athletes at all levels.


The meeting concluded with the adoption of a Resolution, reaffirming regional governments’ collective resolve to enhance anti-doping efforts and ensure clean, fair sport throughout the Asia and Oceania region.


Accompanying Yang Berhormat Dato to the meeting are officials from the Brunei Darussalam Anti-Doping Council (BDADC) from Ministry of Education and Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.
