Hong Kong SAR, 23 April 2025 – Yang Mulia Dr Siti Norkhalbi binti Haji Wahsalfelah, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Culture) at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports of Brunei Darussalam attended the 13th Asia Cultural Co-Operation Forum+ (ACCF) from 22 until 23rd April 2025 in Hong Kong SAR.

 

The forum, themed "Connect, Create, Engage: Bridging Cultures for All", was chaired by Miss Rosanna Law, Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hong Kong SAR. The forum was attended by 17 countries, and including participants from the Belt and Road countries.

 

The forum emphasized the importance of arts, culture and heritage to connect diverse cultures in the region, to inspire creativity and to empower the cultural community especially with the current advancement in digital technology. The forum also touched on the multifaceted changes entering into a volatile age of geopolitical tension and tariff wars, and its impacts on arts and culture. During the forum, Yang Mulia Dr Norkhalbi reaffirmed Brunei Darussalam's commitment to nurturing a dynamic culture and safeguarding heritage by increasing community participation through inclusive programmes and enhancing the capabilities of our creative talents.

 

Yang Mulia Dr. Siti Norkhalbi also shared Brunei Darussalam's achievement in establishing Brunei History Centre as a Centre of Excellence for History and Sultanate of Brunei, launching of the ASEAN Walk featuring a complete sculpture from all 10 ASEAN countries as well as the collaborative effort between Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand on the successful inscription of the Kebaya into the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List.

 

Accompanying Yang Mulia Dr. Siti Norkhalbi was Yang Mulia Dayang Hakimah binti Sufian, Chief Museums Officer and Manager of the Hab Tenaga Brunei Dermaga Diraja, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.

 

A plenary session was also held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre where Dayang Hakimah gave a presentation titled “From Strategy to Implementation: A Brunei Darussalam Journey" sharing Brunei Darussalam's success in the Culture and Creative Industry.

 

ACCF+ is a platform by the Government of Hong Kong SAR that aims to promote cultural co-operation and exchanges with different places, and has established its reputation as a signature cultural co-operation event.​
