BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Tuesday, 13 Syawal 1445/23 April 2024 – Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP) organized the 2024 World Book Day Celebration Ceremony at Balai Sarmayuda, Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP).  This celebration is an annual event every April 23 that has been set by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

Present as the Guest of Honor for the event was Yang Mulia Pengiran Haji Mohd. Hasnan bin Pengiran Haji Ali Hassan, Permanent Secretary (Culture), Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.  Also present is Yang Mulia Dr. Dayang Siti Norkhalbi binti Haji Wahsalfelah, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Culture), Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, Yang Mulia Dayang Hajah Haireni binti Haji Awang Damit, Acting Director of the Language and Library Council, Acting Deputy Director of Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP), Directors under the Ministry, Culture, Youth and Sports, principals and headmasters, students, recipients of the Southeast Asia Writers Award, writers and literary activists of the homeland.

This 2024 World Book Day celebration ceremony is one of Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP) big and strategic efforts to inspire the community to love books and love reading, especially among children. This effort is also the department's effort to further emphasize the importance of reading as a bridge of knowledge to all sections of society.

Among the objectives of this celebration is to strengthen the continuous culture of reading in the community, encourage the community, especially children, to explore and enjoy the pleasure of reading books, reveal to the younger generation about the importance of reading books, encourage the community to work through the practice of a reading culture that can build confidence self and able to improve communication skills when dealing with a large audience.

This celebration also aims to inject a culture of reading, especially among the younger generation, and instill a love of knowledge through activities related to reading.

The event was also graced with a Motivational Talk Program: "Seindah Bicara" which was delivered by Yang Mulia Cikgu Haji Ali Yusri bin Haji Abdul Ghafor, Head of the Counseling Division, Ministry of Education and further completed the presentation of certificates and souvenirs to the panel of motivational talks.

The event ended with a group photo session with the Guest of Honor of the event and the department's book writers.
