RIYADH, KINGDOM OF SAUDI ARABIA, Wednesday, 3 Zuhijjah 1447 / 20th May 2026 – Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi Mohamad, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports of Brunei Darussalam, concluded a three-day working visit to Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, from 17 to 19 May 2026, further reaffirming the close and brotherly relations between Brunei Darussalam and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Yang Berhormat Dato held a bilateral meeting with His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz Turki Al-Faisal Al-Saud to discuss the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Cooperation in the Field of Youth and Sports, which was signed on 6 November 2025. Both sides expressed their strong commitment to further enhancing bilateral cooperation through meaningful and impactful initiatives, particularly in the areas of sports development, youth exchange programmes, capacity-building, and the sharing of professional expertise and best practices.
During the visit, Yang Berhormat Dato and his delegation also had the opportunity to visit several key sports, cultural, and heritage facilities in Riyadh to gain further insight into the Kingdom's rapid development and efforts in sports development and preservation of its rich cultural heritage. The visits included the King Fahad Sports City, the National Museum of Saudi Arabia, the Regional Training Centre (Sports) at Princess Noura University, as well as the historic Diriyah district, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Accompanying Yang Berhormat Dato during the visit were His Excellency Haji Harun bin Haji Junid, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Brunei Darussalam to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; Yang Mulia Hajah Nor Ashikin binti Haji Johari, Permanent Secretary (Community) at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports; as well as senior officials from the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports and the Embassy of Brunei Darussalam in Saudi Arabia.
