BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Wednesday, 7 Ramadan 1447 / 25 February 2026 – The Flag Lowering Ceremony of the National Flag of Brunei Darussalam held today marked the conclusion of the nationwide flag-hoisting period in conjunction with the 42nd National Day Anniversary of Brunei Darussalam, 2025. The ceremony took place at the open area of Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Complex, Bandar Seri Begawan.

Present as the Guest of Honour to officiate the ceremony was Yang Mulia Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Mohd Tashim bin Pengiran Haji Hassan, Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs, Ministry of Religious Affairs, who also serves as the Joint Deputy Chairman of the National Day 42nd Anniversary Celebration Executive Committee, 2026.

The ceremony commenced with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and the prayer “Allah Peliharakan Sultan dan Negara Brunei Darussalam" led by Yang Mulia Awang Khairul Ariffin bin Haji Yusop, Level I Imam of Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Mosque.

Subsequently, the lowering of the National Flag was carried out by the Royal Brunei Navy. Their march was accompanied by the Royal Brunei Police Band. The ceremony continued with the singing of the National Anthem “Allah Peliharakan Sultan". The lowered flag was then handed over to the Guest of Honour, symbolizing the official conclusion of the nationwide flag-hoisting period.

​Also in attendance were Honourable Members of the Legislative Council, Permanent Secretaries, Deputy Permanent Secretaries, and members of the National Day 42nd Anniversary Celebration Executive Committee, 2026.
